Guns and Snowballs

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Gun, Snowball

Blizzards are great.  Planes, trains, and cars are incapacitated, consumerism slows to a crawl, and we are reminded of our helplessness in the face of nature’s awesome fury.  People generally tend to respond by either panicking or thoroughly enjoying themselves.  As for myself, being in the DC area, I was outside the bar hurling snowballs with a bunch of drunkards and a guy in a santa suit within hours of the first flake.

Turns out, there was an even more epic snowball fight on 14th st. Saturday involving about 200 people.  The fun bubble was soon burst, however, when a plainclothes police officer pulled his gun on the crowd after his Hummer was pelted with snowballs.  This, in turn, brought an officer in uniform who also unholstered his weapon, apparently in response to reports of some fucknut jumping out of a Hummer and whipping out a gun at a snowball fight.  This ABC 7 News article is by far the most interesting one covering the incident, saying that the first officer pulled his gun because the snowballer crowd was sprinkled with anti-war protesters dressed in ”anarchist garb”.  Oh, okay.  That makes sense then.  I’m pretty sure it’s standard police policy in this country to shoot suspected anarchists on sight, so in this case the officer showed restraint by not busting off a couple rounds.  And what constitutes anarchist garb exactly?  Ski masks?  Dark clothes?  Boots?  Scarves?  Gloves?

Wait a second……..

Dear God, there’s anarchists everywhere!  Stay in your homes!  Don’t shovel your walks!

Really though, what’s everyone so worked up about?  Clearly, the only logical response to witnessing an anti-war protester in the midst of a snowball fight is to brandish a fucking pistol, right?

 Right?

God Bless America!  Enjoy your snow!
